Across our nation we have witnessed an erosion of public confidence in police officers and law enforcement agencies. Society’s view of acceptable police behavior has changed significantly, which has caused law enforcement officials to revisit police behavioral standards to ensure they are maintained at a level that does not erode the public’s trust. This training program was designed to foster a critical examination of why and how law enforcement officers are held to a higher standard. Most importantly we will discuss the impact of ethical training on the future of police work, and examine the role that supervisors hold in their duty to identifying and supporting ethical behavior within their organizations.
